Port Huron Minor Hockey Association is pleased to announce 

Dalton Jay as Coaching Director 




Dalton Jay is an accomplished and successful professional hockey player who displays a passion and drive for the game.  Dalton is currently playing his sixth year of professional hockey for the Port Huron Prowlers.  During his time as a Prowler, he was selected as an assistant captain and led the league in goals in 2020.  During the 2018-19 season, he was also selected as ‘Forward of the Year’  while leading the league in assists. 


Dalton Jay attended Westfield State University Westfield in Massachusetts and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Marketing Concentration.  While attending Westfield State during the 2014 - 15 season he was selected second-team all-conference.  During the 2015-16 season he was selected; as first-team all-conference, as well as captain of the team,  and #3 in the nation for shorthanded goals.  Dalton also broke school records for Most Goals in a Year, Points in a Year,  and Goals in a Season.


Dalton began his coaching career in 2019  as Head Coach of the U16 Port Huron Flags Split season.  During the 2020-21 season, Dalton conducted the house program skills skates for Port Huron Minor Hockey Association.  During that same season, Dalton was hired as the Assistant Coach at Port Huron High High School hockey team where he currently is still coaching. 


Dalton Jay displays the passion to obtain a more in-depth role within the game of hockey as a Coaching Director while being confident to meet and exceed all goals and expectations of PHMHA  and help the coaches and players thrive.

Ben Pionk as  Assistant Coaching Director 




 A lifelong resident of Port Huron and PHMHA alumni, Ben Pionk brings over 24yrs of coaching experience.  Ben began coaching in 1997, over the last 24yrs 14 of those years as Head Coach of Port Huron High high school hockey team.   


In 2017 Ben became involved in coaching with PHMHA.  Since that time his teams have won numerous league championships and tournaments.  Ben believes that coaching has been very rewarding and has given him an opportunity to give back to a game that has taught him so much.


Ben’s mission is to give hockey players of all ages an opportunity to grow and learn the game, have fun and develop so that the game of Hockey is understood and played with pride at all levels and skills.
