THE DAN (DIESEL) DUHAIME HOCKEY SCHOLARSHIP
Dan was born October 1959, grew up in Warren, graduated from Wayne State University with a Mechanical Engineering Degree, was married to Joan, had 2 daughters Danielle and Nicole, and 2 grandsons Liam and Cole.
He discovered his love for hockey as a child at the neighborhood outdoor ice rink where groups of friends would get together and play till they were called in for dinner.
His passion for the ice continued throughout his life while playing on different work related teams through Ford and Visteon, this is where he acquired the nickname of Diesel. The guys teased him of being a little slower off the start but a strong player for the long haul like a diesel engine.
He would watch professional games over and over to analyze the moves with his engineering mindset and then use them in his games; he loved, loved hockey.
Dan was part of a group of seniors who would get together same time every Friday at the Mt Clemens Ice Arena and divide up into two teams for a game of hockey until his unexpected death January 23rd 2020 at the age of 60.
If he could have a small part of another child finding a passion for hockey like he did I know he would be ecstatic.
